The Chateau

The Chateau de la Creuzette (Chateau of the little hollow) was originally built during the nineteenth century as the country home of a wealthy Parisian doctor. One of his descendants married a relative of the last King of France and during the decades following, la Creuzette accommodated many illustrious personalities and hosted numerous splendid events that are still remembered….

Today the property is owned by well-known South African artist Louis Jansen van Vuuren and his partner, Hardy Olivier. The new owners have restored the manor house to it’s former glory and it now offers guests luxurious accommodation which can be used as a base from which to discover and explore some of the best-kept secrets of the Limousin region.

The chateau is set in a beautiful walled park, prolific with bird-life, with century-old cedar, oak, elm and chestnut trees for guests to stroll and relax in. There is a splendid rose garden on what used to be the old tennis courts and also a potager which supplies the kitchen with organically grown produce.

The manor house itself has eight beautifully appointed double en-suite guest rooms which are available to groups who also have the use of the library, music-room, kitchen, dining-room and salon. There are wine cellars, and a tasting room below. A small gymnasium will be added later this year.

In the outbuildings, which used to be the old stables, a new summer kitchen has been built as well as a large loft which has been transformed into a yoga and art studio.
